Reflection of light and full notes of class 10th ,11th,12th
What is reflection of light?
The bouncing back of light after striking from any polished surface (PbO/AgO) or shining surface this phenomenon is known as reflection of light.
Laws of reflection of light
• The incident ray ,reflected ray and normal at the point of incident are all lies in same plane.
• The angle of incident is always equal to the angle of reflection.
What is mirror?
In any shapex4d4 of glass whose one side (right side) is⁴ polished with PbO/AgO another side is reflected surface is known as mirror.
Types of mirror
There are two types of mirror.
➡️ Plane mirror
➡️ Spherical mirror
Spherical mirrors are two types.
➡️ Concave mirror
➡️ Convex mirror
What is Plane mirror ?
In any plane surface whose one side is polished with PbO/AgO and another surface is reflected surface is called plane mirror.
✅. The focal length of plane mirror is infinite.
What is spherical mirror?
A spherical mirror is a mirror with a curved reflecting surface. The surface may be either convex or concave. Most curved mirrors have surfaces that are shaped like part of a sphere, but other shapes are sometimes used in optical.
What is concave mirror?
In the spherical mirror outer surface is polished with PbO/AgO and inner surface is reflected surface is known as concave mirror. Concave means "hollowed out or rounded inward" and is easily remembered because these surfaces "cave" .
What is convex mirror?
In the spherical mirror inner surface is polished with PbO/AgO and outer surface is reflected surface is known as convex mirror. Convex mirror is also known as diverging mirror because it diverges the rays of light, which fall on its reflecting surface.
What is image ?
If the light ray coming from a point after reflection meet at another point or appears to meet at another point then second point is called the image of first point.
Types of image
There are four types of image.
1️⃣ Real image
2️⃣ Virtual image
3️⃣ Erect /upright image
4️⃣ Inverted image
What is real image?
If the light rays coming from a point actually meet after reflection then the image formed is called image.
What is virtual image?
If the light rays coming from a point after reflection doesn't actually meet but appear to meet at a point when produced backwards then the image form is called a virtual image.
What is Erect /upright image?
What is inverted image?
